Park Jin Ha

Park Jin Ha presents a series titled Beyond featuring Seoraksan (Mount Seorak), exploring the landscape beyond human perception that transcends the limits of photography. Created through a fusion of infrared photography, stitching, and stacking techniques, these monumental panoramas reconstruct reality into a layered and expanded spatial experience. In the images with depth removed, a coexistence of deep monochromes and vivid red hues forms an otherworldly yet intense landscape. Seoraksan has long stood as a sacred natural symbol deeply embedded in the spiritual and cultural identity of the Korean people. In infrared, the mountain reemerges bathed in red light, evoking the potent symbols of fire, vitality, and rebirth. Simultaneously, it expands to signify the unity and energy of the contemporary society. Park’s endeavor to bring into the frame realms beyond sensory perception and beyond the reach of the eye transforms landscape from mere physical space into a layered “hidden reality.” His photographs ultimately guide viewers to traverse the horizons beyond ordinary sensory experience.
